Condition of Bicycle / Distinguishing Features:
Blue bicycle frame, with the word "speedway" written in silver down the main diagonal rail. 2 mounting racks, one over the front wheel, one over the back wheel. The mounting rack on the back has red and white reflective tape wrapped along the sides nearest to the tire. There is black cloth tape wrapped along the right handlebar only, and it is partially falling off. Handles are black, and the adjacent gearshift is red, both of rubberized material.
How was the lock defeated?:
Lock is missing, along with the bike.
What was the bike locked to?:
Which type of area was your bike stolen from?:
Front of building in residential area.
How was the bike locked?:
Locked through rear wheel and frame to object.
How long was the bike locked in this location?:
I threaded my thick cable lock through the back tire of the bike and through the frame at around 6pm. When I left my friend's apartment at 11pm, the bike and lock were nowhere to be found. My friend even drove me around the neighborhood to look around for it. I have two theories: either the cable was cut, or the sign I locked the bike to was not as sturdy as I though it was and someone was able to take it out of the ground and take the bike, still locked, and wheel it away by using the uninhibited front tire.
